"As a bass player, I’m super sensitive to bass reproduction. The Purifi driver yields the best bass pitch definition I’ve ever heard, period!
The Purifi driver and the PDP sealed enclosure yield some of the tightest bass I‘ve ever encountered! Having spent time behind the desk as an engineer/producer, I am in awe of the Bliesma mids and highs, especially the transient response, I have the silks, they are super detailed, well balanced, forward, revealing, but never fatiguing!
The folks at PDP have done an incredible job on the crossovers, definitely a mix of science and art, bravo James and Mark! To top it off, the Hypex amps finally put to bed the notion that class D sucks, these things are superb !
All together, a top notch package that more than holds its own against systems costing over twice as much !

"My jaw dropped to the freaking floor. I literally could not understand what I was hearing, the phantom center is INSANE. The vocals just sit in the middle, like you could reach out and touch them, you truely have to be hear it to believe it.
The level of detail is insane. Every single instrument is perfectly audible, separeted, the kick drum and bass don't get in the way, it's so crystal clear. The low end is insanely tight and punchy like I've never heard before. There were some moments I was laughing out loud because, as everyone has said before, I heard details in the track that I had never heard before. Reverb tails I had never heard, specific orchestration details I had never heard before, Left and Right separation was absolutely massive, I could clearly hear what had been panned left / right in the mix, I could hear specific string sections it was insane.
Never heard music like this before .. scary stuff haha!"

"I am starting out a new venture in recording, mixing and mastering and had a new studio built in the back garden. All I have had speaker wise was a pair of Yamaha MSP5’s which I’d used on and off for the last 25 years but mostly been on cans and never had the space for some proper speakers. I’ve had the beryllium MUM-8s now for around a month and the quality of my mixes has really become apparent to me. I can hear when I’m overcooking the compression and balancing is just a joy and so simple because I can hear what sounds muddy, what doesn’t, and how much to add or take away in the mids highs and lows.
I’ve also had a bit of a lightbulb moment where now I hear mixes that don’t have the clarity, energy and transients of top pro mixers and before these speakers I was chasing my tail a lot and just piling up plugins. In my new space I bring the faders up, use an SSL channel strip for 90% of the work and job done.
What these speakers have given me is confidence and speed to get the results I need and allows me to focus more on building a business instead of worrying about if I can deliver a great mix for the client.
Having Mark and James set them up in my space and make sure they were sounding good was great for me, I am using IK arc studio for room correction on them and it just works fantastic!"

"These things are STUNNING! But my word, first thing is the stereo image and the sound stage! I regularly mix a live event online and the first week I heard exactly where everything was panned! Like, the violin pan pot was 6 to to the left in pro tools and there was space for it if that makes sense!? "I'm a music lover and a working engineer and I only care about two things in my monitoring chain:
1. Translation - That decisions I make on the system hold up when I listen back on any other system, in any other environment.
2. Enjoyment - That working on the monitoring system is fun, dammit! I understand the idea behind mix cubes, NS10s and old computer speakers that you found in your aunt's garage but I never quite understand when people say they spend 80% of their time mixing on shit devices. It seems like an unnecessary form of self-torture. I love working on music and I want to have fun doing it - as long as I get translation, of course.
My other speakers are 2-way Neumann KH120As and I LOVE them. In fact, I love them so much that for the last 2 years they're the only speakers I've had in the studio.
With a few touchpoints on headphones and my cellphone for dealing with small speaker harshness, I was satisfied. Mixes were translating, clients were pleased.
But, you know how it goes. Pushing boundaries, trying gear, this is part of the fun and I'd been wanting to try 3-way monitoring to see how much low end extension and mid-range detail I could add.
My search originally pointed to SCM25s but some youtubing and underwhelming responsiveness from my usual high-end audio distributor got me talking to James. And this brings us to the MUM8.
Having now mixed and produced on the MUM8s for a few months, here are my thoughts and them and on PDP:

The responsiveness and customer service from James and team is second to none that I've ever experienced. James might be a large language model for how quickly he responds to stuff. I mean, these guys are passionate about audio but they also take customer service to the next level. I had some initial issues with logistics and setup and I literally couldn't be more pleased with the response from the team.

The MUMs sound fantastic. Frequency response is excellent once I got the room tuned out but what I'm really floored by is the clarity and separation between elements and the precision of the transient response. I like to listen to some jazz albums with hand percussion to test transient response and these things just really delivered. Fast, precise transients and I could pinpoint the exact instrument in the exact space it was coming from in the stereo field. Amazing! I have the speakers just slightly wider than equilateral to my listening positioning and the imaging is still pretty good - though I think with actual equilateral setup it would be even better!

I like having DSP on-board. Everything I send to the speakers is EQ corrected without me having to mess with system-wide corrective programs. I can't overstate the simplicity and convenience of this setup.

Beautiful sound. When I'm doing admin/other work, I'll just stream music. The sound is so good that I'll pause and get lost in the music from time to time and it's constantly helping me calibrate my brain to the speakers. These things are a pleasure.

Finally, and most importantly: translation. The first project I did was an album master and I decided to dive in head first and do it entirely on the MUMs. I worked for a few hours and then clenched my jaw and shut my eyes as I moved to switch to my trusty headphones. I expected to get a bit of the jarring response you get when switching to a new or radically different monitoring system. To my pleasant surprise, almost NOTHING jumped out at me. It sounded good. I was still hearing what I had been hearing. Whew.​
